About This Project

Black and Whites

The Black and Whites are located on Foster Avenue, Coquitlam, in a mixed neighbourhood of single and multi-family homes. Two city blocks were developed with sixteen rowhouse buildings and a five storey apartment. The overall development was envisioned as a large scale infill project: the apartment building and long rowhouse elevations oriented to higher density neighbours, and rowhouse “ends” oriented to the lane and existing single family lots. The site design incorporates a fine grain network of courtyards, pathways and lanes, ensuring a rich and varied public realm and encouraging pedestrian movement around and through this addition to the neighbourhood.
