Dunbar Street is the commercial/retail centre of this established neighbourhood on Vancouver’s west side. This portion of the high street, near West 41st Avenue is a mix of small scale commercial and denser, mixed use developments. This project is designed to relate to the varied height and scale of its neighbours using simple, articulated forms on the façade, strong horizontal elements and upper level stepbacks. The east elevation includes an extended setback from the lane and single family neighbours to optimize privacy and minimize shade and shadowing. Generous landscape elements are incorporated into the design to reduce overlook and contribute to a pedestrian oriented laneway.
